Jack "The Ripper" Cassidy, aka "The Man Who Saved Rock & Roll", is a first generation wrestler hailing from Vermont.

[edit] Biography

[edit] Before Wrestling

Unlike most professional wrestlers, Jack never had any sort of athletic background. To hear him tell it, he would have joined the high school wrestling team, only the training schedule would have interfered with his free time. Namely, diving off the school bleachers onto traffic pylons, tackling the absolute fuck out of trash cans, and other assorted self-destructive stupidity. Jack and his best friend, Roger Stevens, seemed more the kind to grow up as professional slackers than professional fighters.

Jack's career altered when he was on a Senior class field trip to Florida in 2002. He and Roger met Cito Conarri, who offered them a tryout. A strict workout regimen of leaping off of tall things onto breakable things had blessed Jack and Roger both with above average conditioning and toughness, and Conarri ended up offering them a spot at his training camp.

Despite the difficulty of a commute from Vermont to Florida, Jack and Roger would attend Conarri's school for approximately a year and a half, training as a tag team as well as for singles wrestling.

When Chaos Wrestling opened in upstate New York, very close to their homes in Vermont, the two young men signed with it as "Rip Righteous".

[edit] Chaos Wrestling

Roger Stevens would make his debut one card earlier than Jack, in a three way dance against The Prodigy and The Sickness. He lost, but wasn't the man giving up the fall either. Their very first match was for the Chaos Wrestling Tag Team Titles against The Sanderson Brothers, which they lost. It was less than a month though, that Jack and Roger were able to win a scaffold cage match against The Sandersons and the team of Jaime Nothing and Bufford Rogers to become the CW Tag Champs.

With CW's tag division very weak to begin with (the title defense saw the departure of both the Sandersons and Nothing), Jack, as the A man of the team, ended up in singles. In a 24 man tournament to determine the inaugural Chaos Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, Jack substituted for the injured Gabriel Jenkins, and advanced to the final round against Mark Daniels and The Sickness. Jack would eliminate The Sickness from the match before losing to Mark Daniels.

Shortly afterwards, for no real reason other than childish impatience, Jack turned heel. He goaded Daniels into repeated confrontations and managed to earn himself another shot at Daniels' title. This time, he didn't just win, he utterly squashed the champ, sending Daniels out of wrestling.

With Rip Righteous dominating the struggling tag scene in CW and Jack knocking down all challengers to his Heavyweight Title, it took an outsider to upset the duo. Daemon Curtis, a rookie trained by CW part owner Danny "Fats" Argus, was able to defeat Jack for the CW Title. Very shortly afterwards, CW was announced to be closing. The deal was for CW to merge with the Coalition of Affiliated Leagues territory Total Impact Wrestling, to refom the long time CAL territory the Mid-South Wrestling Alliance.

Jack and Roger, however, would not sign with MSWA - they'd sign with the CAL's top territory at the time, Canadian Rockies Wrestling.

[edit] Coalition of Affiliated Leagues

Tragedy struck Rip Righteous their very first match in CRW. While fighting Team Soylent Green (E Normus Norman/Jack Slade), Roger Stevens fell backwards off the turnbuckle and landed on the stairs back first. He was badly injured and Rip Righteous was on hold indefinitely. Jack would go back to Vermont with Roger, but he remained under contract with CRW - Roger's injury was so tragic that CRW president Kurt Richards didn't have the heart to fire the two kids.

Months later, Richards was in trouble. Trying to put together a stable wasn't working for him, as wrestlers kept quitting. Finally, he called Jack, more or less blackmailing him into returning. To sweeten the deal for Jack, he promised to apprentice Jack to two of the best the CAL had ever seen - Heidi, and Ultra Raptor. Raptor and Heidi were, among others, two of Jack's favorite wrestlers from his days as a wrestling fan, and he was thrilled with the idea.

Jack, while acting mainly as a lackey for Ultra Raptor, got some significant training from Heidi. While a lot of this training consisted of Jack getting dragon suplexed repeatedly for refusing to follow directions and/or staring at Heidi's cleavage instead of listening to her, he did learn quite a bit about wrestling, and developed a more aggressive style and an effective striking game.

Raptor, Heidi, and by extension Jack, ended up in a stable representing CAL President Angelina Bishop. The stable had no official name (and was really more a loose association of heel wrestlers than an actual stable), but was generally referred to as "The Authority". While Bishop and The Authority, backing CRW, battled Kai Scott and his Union, backing OLW, Jack mainly acted in a supporting role. However, he did have one huge moment in the CAL. At the CRW/OLW show, "Crisis on Outrage", that saw Bishop step down, Scott thrown out and both stables disolved, Jack participated in a 10 man tag with 9 of the CAL's biggest stars. He teamed with Heidi, Ultra Raptor, Avarice and Jack Cross to take on Cole Christenson, Daemon Curtis, Danny Argus, Freddy Phoenix and TJ Killingbeck.

After the CRW/OLW show, CRW was absorbed by OLW. Raptor and Heidi almost immediately started infighting. And Jack, who by now was disgusted with wrestling in general, specifically the fact that the wrestlers he'd grown up admiring weren't the super-heroes they appeared to be on television, handed in his resignation. He no-showed his defense of the Can-Her Title, and OLW staff retroactively declared that he'd never been an official champion in the first place.

Jack was vocal about the reasons he left the CAL, and this, combined with his wrestling talent, wildly endeared him to the internet wrestling community.

[edit] Chaos Wrestling Reunion Show

When CW announced its reunion show, Jack had initially planned not to go. But it turned out to be the biggest change of his career.

There was a girl who Jack went to high school with. Her name was Diane Parker. She'd been the girl who does everything - straight A's in class, honor roll, three different letters in sports, and she's nice to everyone. And hot. Jack, needless to say, totally had a crush on her, but never spoke to her, thinking her so far out of his league it wasn't worth his time to try it. But unbeknownst to Jack, Diane was a big wrestling fan herself, and had seen and recognized him during the aforementioned 10 man tag team match on Crisis on Outrage.

Diane overheard Jack and Roger Stevens discussing the CW Reunion show in a McDonalds. Chasing Jack down, she encouraged him to compete on the show. He did, and on it, defeated Daemon Curtis in a rematch to win the CW Heavyweight Title.

Jack and Diane began dating exclusively almost immediately. Diane requested that Jack teach her to wrestle - and she quickly got good enough that he felt he couldn't teach her adequately. He sent her to see the man who trained him, Cito Conarri.

[edit] Pro Wrestling SPIRIT

With the wrestling itch rekindled, Jack began looking for another fed, specifically, one that kept the drama to a minimum and focused on the wrestling, which is what he preferred anyway. Not knowing much about wrestling outside the CAL but not wanting to join the CAL, he tracked down former CAL territory the Honor Wrestling League. HWL had left the CAL on its own terms after being a member for about half a year. HWL was closed, Jack found, but most of the roster had moved over into Pro Wrestling SPIRIT. Jack handed in his application, and was booked against Bryan Harris on the 2/25/06 show. He won the match with the Hide Neck Crack.

Jack made an immediate impact in SPIRIT, competing in multiple man tag team matches and not only winning all of them, but picking up the pinfall in most of them. He went undefeated for nearly 20 matches before he finally lost, to Harris in a rematch.

When Lions Road announced the Heritage Tag League, Bryan Harris asked Jack to join up with him. Harris and Cassidy would, after fighting Kudo Yasuda and Red Ninja to a draw in the first match, go undefeated for the rest of the tournament, beating Yasuda/Ninja in a rematch to clench their division, and then defeating the Dark Carnival (Twitch & Eddy) in the finals to win.) The team now official, Cassidy and Harris named their team the Frozen Waffles with Awesome Sauce.

In a foreshadow of what was to come, the Strong Assault Crew, the team initially expected to win the tournament, were defeated handily by the Waffles in the tournament. Despite this they were given tag title shots, which they won. The Waffles weren't pleased with this, and began to agitate for shots of their own.

On July 1st 2006, Jack defeated Kudo Yasuda to win the GWCA Junior Heavyweight Championship, unleashing the Ripper Driver for the second time ever.

Two weeks later, the Waffles got their shot against the SAC. Cassidy hit Cooper with the Hide Neck Crack for the win.

During this same period of time, Diane Parker was attacked by a trio of OLW wrestlers (Jeff Andrews, Paco Losantio and Yoshikazu YAZ in her apartment. Although Andrews (the leader of the trio) was just there to menace Jack for having walked out on him and the CAL, YAZ instead demanded sexual favors. Diane fought back, briefly incapacitating YAZ with a spinal tap, and ran to the phone, but YAZ shook it off and attacked her, bruising two ribs. Diane would begin accompanying Jack to wrestling - she also attempted to join SPIRIT's dojo, but it was full.

[edit] Lions Road

As SPIRIT was sold and renamed to Lions Road, the Waffles continued their dominance over the tag division. With LR opening a new dojo, Diane quickly joined it. She was called up to the main roster a month later.

One of the first additions to the LR roster was Zeke Cassidy. Jack's brother, whom he didn't much like, had ended up hanging out with Jeff Andrews, and Andrews had sent him to LR to make Jack's life miserable. Fortunately, it turned out that Zeke was undertrained, and shit-useless in the ring.

When young lion Cody Cross won the UWL Heavyweight Title, he became the most hyped wrestler in Lions Road. This angered the Waffles, as they felt that their accomplishments in LR were being overlooked for this guy who's success had been in another fed. And so, in an 8 man tag, the Waffles turned on Cross, hitting Cross with their Waffle Iron finisher.

The Waffles, now as Jack, Bryan, Diane, and Bryan's sister Tracy Harris, had established themselves as LR's premier rudo stable. Jack and Bryan continued to completely dominate the tag division, while Diane and Tracy began teaming as well. Zeke, who had been left adrift by the OLW wrestlers who sent him to LR in the first place, begged to join the Waffles, and he was allowed in as a junior associate member.

With Roger Stevens finally recovered from his back injury, he was signed to a referee contract with LR. Of course, he was completely loyal to the Waffles. His arrival helped Jack become the sole survivor of a survivor series, pinning the KOL Heavyweight Champion, Eddie Jones, after an electric guitar shot that Roger didn't disqualify him for.

In early 2007, Jack suffered his first injury. Landing badly after a big boot from Eddie Jones, he fractured his humerus, missing six weeks. While he was injured, Bryan and Roger teamed up in the King of Lions Tag League, but came short of the win. By the time Jack made it back, relations between the FWwAS and LR management had soured. After losing his long-awaited title shot against Eddie Jones, the entirety of the FWwAS left Lions Road.

[edit] The Downtime

Jack Cassidy was briefly in contact with World Wrestling Alliance territory Hudson River Wrestling, but opted not to sign. He was courted by Power On Wrestling, which was hoping that he could stir up some heat due to his controversial departure from Lions Road, but he never signed a contract. Instead, he went into a state of retirement for about six months. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland, so that Diane Parker could return to Cito Conarri's training camp, which operated there. In September 2007, he posted on his blog for the first time since leaving Lions Road, claiming he was coming back to wrestling. After keeping his plans in the air for another month, he signed with UWL.

[edit] Universal Wrestling League

In UWL, Jack has allied himself with old enemy Eddie Jones, Jones having had a falling out with the Lions Road management similar to his own. The two had a supremely succesful run as the Tag Team Champions before Eddie cut back his activity level. Jack took a run at the UWL World Heavyweight Title. In his title defense against Matt Mathews, Jack stole a pair of knucks that Mathews introduced into the match and clocked him with them. Jack got the three count and briefly won the title, however, the decision was reversed by another referee. Following this "Dusty Finish", Jack handed in his resignation and never looked back.

Unlike when Jack quit the CAL, which the fans found endearing, and when he quit Lions Road, where most people sympathized with his feelings if not with his conduct, this inspired the fans to turn on Jack, considering him to be a quitter, or a "lose and bolt" type.

[edit] Inactivity

Jack briefly joined World Wrestling Alliance federation West Coast Wrestling Association, however, he left after his first week. He cited the poor attitude of WCWA top player Noah Hanson as the reason. He has assisted Roger Stevens in creating promo footage for Wrestlecoast Cascadia, and made one on-air appearance for that promotion. His only other participation in the wrestling business was in The Wrestling Inferno, the training camp turned promotion run by his trainer Cito Conarri.

  • Totally Righteous (T-Bone DDT)
    • Another Stevens move that Jack used while Stevens was injured, and gave back when he returned

[edit] Finishing Moves

  • Hide Neck Crack (sit down face first suplex)
    • Originally Jack used the Hide Neck Crack as a trademark and the Big Jack Splat as a finisher, but when he joined Pro Wrestling SPIRIT, he improved his execution of the Hide Neck Crack to the point where it became his primary finishing move
    • The Hide Neck Crack got its name from the videogame Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth
    • Jack has a top rope version of the Hide Neck Crack he's used occasionally.
  • Big Jack Splat ("Five Star" Frog Splash)
    • Jack has lost more matches in Lions Road TO the Big Jack Splat, than he has won matches with it
