King of MFGG is a monthly single-elimination tournament held by MFGG Wrestling.

Format

The tournament is typically held on the last Tuesday of every month on a "special edition" of MFGG Daily Damage. The names of these DD episodes reflects this, with King of MFGG and the number of the event serving as a sub-title (e.g., Daily Damage #85: King of MFGG IV). As such, the phrase "King of MFGG" can refer to the tournament itself or the event. Some King of MFGG events also feature matches unrelated to the tournament itself. Only one King event, the upcoming King of MFGG VIII, has been scheduled as a stand-alone supershow as opposed to a special edition of Daily Damage. It's also the first for which the tournament (a special sixteen-man version) will be spread out over several days, culminating at the supershow.

The winner receives a shot at a world title (originally the MFGG World Heavyweight or XD Championship, but now the Undisputed World Championship). A "coronation ceremony" is typically held at a subsequent event, usually the next day.

History

In July 2006, shortly after MFGG Wrestling formed, booker Captain Jeff Silvers announced a single elimination eight-man tournament that would take place on July 27. The tournament, called King of MFGG, would be held during Daily Damage #9: King of MFGG, with the winner receiving a shot at Press Start's MFGG World Heavyweight Championship at MFGG Two Weeks Notice.

Wayne Deranez won the tournament. His coronation was held the next day and was attended by Captain Jeff Silvers (presenter) and Press Start. The ceremony also served as a contract signing, as Deranez and Start officially signed to face each other at MFGG Two Weeks Notice. The ceremony was interrupted by Suigi and Über n00ber; n00ber and Start beat down Deranez, while Suigi came to his aid. Press Start defeated "King" Wayne Deranez to retain the MFGG World Heavyweight Championship at MFGG Two Weeks Notice on July 29, 2006.

King of MFGG VIII

The eighth King of MFGG Tournament began Monday, February 12, 2007 (Daily Damage #178), and concluded Sunday, February 18, at the King of MFGG VIII supershow. This is the first King of MFGG event to take place as a supershow rather than a special addition of Daily Damage. In addition, it is also the first King tournament to take place over several days instead of one, and the first to feature sixteen competitors instead of the traditional eight. These special changes were made for this tournament because the winner will main event MFGG Epoch Rising, a special supershow to be held on March 4.

Suigi won the King of MFGG VIII Tournament. He is also the MFGG SoVeryHardcore Champion. As a result of his victory, he was declared the number one contender to the Undisputed World Championship and was placed in the main event of MFGG Epoch Rising. His coronation was held on February 20, 2007, and was attended by his X-Degeneration teammates (Captain Jeff Silvers [presenter], Dark Yoshi, and Mariorocks), The Brothers of Destruction (CloakBass XIII, Doc Wario, Nightwing, Press Start, and Über n00ber), and The Magical Gamer. The ceremony also served as a contract signing, as Suigi and Press Start officially signed to face each other in the main event of MFGG Epoch Rising. After the signing, a brawl occurred between X-Degeneration and The Brothers of Destruction which had to be broken up by security. Suigi defeated Undisputed World Champion Press Start to win the title at MFGG Epoch Rising on March 4, 2007.

King of MFGG XI

The eleventh King of MFGG Tournament took place on May 29, 2007, at Daily Damage #256: King of MFGG X. This time, this tournament moved to eight man format, because of the small roster.

Julio Cesar F, the booker for the tournament, arranged a special format for the tournament. Each wrestler had a match type, and every match was under two out of three rules, with the first two matches contested under the participates's match types, and the third fall was contested under normal rules. The match types list were:

  • Suigi - Extreme Rules
  • SuperZero - Steel Cage
  • Julio Cesar F - TLC
  • Vaatiman - Elemental Cage Deathmatch
  • Smoke - Hell in a Cell
  • Dark Yoshi - Dark Fortress
  • Press Start - Chaos in the Cages
  • DarkRecon - Electrified Exploding Cage Deathmatch

Press Start won the tournament. As a result of his victory, he is declared the number one contender to the Undisputed World Championship. For the first time at MFGG history, there was no coronation ceremony. Start defeated Smans Smansy Rodriguez to win the Undisputed World title.
