Wrestling career[]

Early career[]

Yoshirou Masaru grew up in the poor area of Shinsekai, Japan. An area of Osaka City, which was modeled half on New York and the other half on Paris. After the World War 2, the area fell into disrepair and crime soared. It is in this tough area where Masaru learnt Ninjutsu to defend himself.

He became a highly skilled Ninjutsu fighter but made the transition into professional wrestling in order to make money. He was trained in the traditional Japanese style and also lucha libre. He began wrestling in various independent Japanese wrestling promotions throughout the 1980s where he became widely known for his outrageous antics and daredevil moves. His first taste of wrestling came in Mighty Japan Pro Wrestling, which was based in Yokohama. It was there he became famous for illegally attacking his opponents with a block of wood, which he claimed was "cardboard" thus earning the name Mr. Hard Cardboard.

Mr. Hard Cardboard moved to America where he took part in the Phantom Wrestling Association. It was there where he had his first match against Crazy Chinese Man, a feud which would further develop in the later stages of his career. In the PWA he captured both the heavyweight and hardcore titles but shortly after capturing the latter the federation would go bust and would once again leave him looking for a new job.

His unemployment didn't last long as wrestling scout and future commentator Kevin Knowles spotted him and Crazy Chinese Man whilst on a scouting mission and recommended the pair to World Revolutionary Wrestling Federation President John Warren, just as it was about to open. Mr. Hard Cardboard famously opened the federation's first show in a match against Kevin Burns. Mr. Hard Cardboard would then begin feuding with his old time rival Crazy Chinese Man, a feud which would last over a year. He became the first crowned Hardcore champion after beating Crazy Chinese Man.

Mr. Hard Cardboard and Crazy Chinese Man would then team up against Kevin Burns and David Drake after Burns stole the Hardcore belt from them during a match, this tag became known as "Crazy Card". They would then go onto fuede with Matt White and Chris Scorpio, also known as the Scorpions. Mr. Hard Cardboard and Crazy Chinese Man would briefly hold the tag team titles but lost them to the Hard Stones.

During this time Mr. Hard Cardboard would become extremely popular with WRWF due to his bizarre antics and the fact that he often misused English words. Fans longed for him and Crazy Chinese Man to return to which they did in Falls Count Anywhere Fatal Four Match to prove who was the "Craziest" which would also include Chard The Tard and Krazzy Kidd

Hard Cardboard was not seen on television for over 8 years until he appeared on a documentary about hoarding. It transpired since leaving wrestling he became a hoarder, spending his time collecting cereal boxes. Unfortunately his postman dropped a cigarette through his letterbox, which set the boxes alight leaving him broke and forcing him to move home to a small one-bedroom apartment.
