Peter Paine (born 26th November 1982), also known as Garud or Garud Paine, is employed by The New International Wrestling Alliance. He is a one-time NIWA European Champion, and the first Australian Champion in NIWA history.
Peter was a quiet achiever in school. His family had a history of attracting trouble at every turn, and as such, he was picked on as a kid. However, this problem was quickly nipped in the bud when he began working out at an early age, regularly doing many push-ups, sit-ups and running, by which none of his peers would go against him. At the age of 10, he began expanding his workouts by going to the gym and doing weights, lightly at first. By the age of 16 he was 6 foot 4 inches and was able to bench 120 kg (264 pounds) and squat 180 kilograms (396 pounds). He started entering bodybuilding competitions and by the time he was 18, he had won 6 different regional championships.
Impact! Wrestling Australia
After his 5th bodybuilding championship, he was spotted by a WWE scout, and was offered him and his brother George a developmental deal, despite neither of them having any training. Both Peter and George started their wrestling careers in Impact! wrestling, an Australian based wrestling territory. A deal between WWE and Impact! was created so that both men would be able to train in the Federation so there would be initiative for more Australian-based talent to be incorporated into the WWE roster. Peter wrestled for a year in Impact! under the name of Behemoth X, going around as a monster and not having any real feuds until his wrestling skills began to improve. His extreme size and unnatural speed allowed him to be a credible monster in the federation. However, when he was up for evaluation by the WWE officials, he was moved up to the main roster, working dark matches waiting for his brother to improve his skills and be called up to the main roster.
