Premiere Wrestling Television, also known as PWA TV, was the flagship television show of the Premiere Wrestling Alliance. Broadcast in syndication, it was the first exposure of the PWA as a standalone promotion on television. With the debut of PWA Wrestling on HBO, Premiere TV ceased broadcast.
History[]
Creation and success[]
When the Brunch reunion promotion, Premiere Wrestling Alliance, began running events, they were taped for syndicated distribution. PWA signed a deal with many markets in large cities to broadcast their episodes on the 10th and 20th of every month, as opposed to a weekly television show. The first episodes of the show, broadcast at 12 midnight, garnered relatively well ratings for a new wrestling show on a late night time slot, and were subsequently pushed forward one hour to 11:00.
After the success of the show, HBO approached the PWA, offering a timeslot on their network. The first episode of PWA Wrestling on HBO debuted on May 20th.
