[edit] History
There is no record of Samantha Valiant’s official birthdate; files from her previous employers list her D.O.B. as 05/04/1980, but most believe this to be a fabrication due to the following information.
In 1986, Samantha, then aged 28, was on the board of directors for an undisclosed advertising firm, and was the closest to being content she had ever been in her life. Comfortable paycheck, lots of minions to boss around. Then on August 27th, a coworker shoved her down ten flights of stairs after a disagreement during a meeting. She died.
Being a wicked soul, Samantha naturally went on to Hell, where the full depth of her spitefulness was revealed; she was prepared to give up her immortal soul if the powers-that-be would grant her just one chance to exact some revenge upon he who had wronged her. Knowing a good deal when they see one, the lords of that realm agreed, and the very next night, Samantha re-entered the world of the living, quickly finding her killer, before slaying him, his wife and their two children in retribution.
Of course, Samantha still had an eternity of suffering to look forward to. But then, a problem emerged; Samantha had no soul to take. Having never been in a situation that would provoke genuine feelings of the heart, Samantha was totally unaware of this fact, but the lords of Hell felt they had been deceived by this mortal woman, and used all the tools at their disposal to exercise their anger. Every passing day, Samantha was torn to shreds, her body and mind defiled in ways unspeakable, and every night she was made whole again, so the demon hordes could start afresh.
Despite all the pain Samantha was put through, without a soul to reap, the lords of Hell found her suffering offered them no sustenance, and eventually they grew tired of their own games. Instead, they sent Samantha back to the world of the living once more, and commanded her to send others’ souls down into the darkness as a trade for her own. Samantha did not believe she would ever be free of this slavery, but performed her task nonetheless, having no wish to endure Hell again.
[edit] Wrestling Career
[edit] Xtreme Fighting Championship
By the end of 2006, Samantha had already crippled innumerable Fortune 500-level companies, sending them into financial freefall and prompting their upper echelons to consider suicide as the only way out of their miserable existence. Next stop on the list was Xtreme Fighting Championship, a professional wrestling organisation that had been swelling in size over the past few years.
Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication between Samantha and XFC's then-Head Booker Travis Blaine, Samantha wound up being signed to the XFC's roster of on-screen performers. Figuring that she could still work her way up to a position of power, Samantha gritted her teeth and took the job. Funnily enough, she wound up liking the weekly grind. Well, when she was winning, anyway.
In her early days in the company, the single greatest object of irritation for Samantha was one Cameron Corvis, who managed to win a Fatal 4-way against her on February 14th, 2007 (although it wasn't her that got pinned, as Samantha makes certain to point out whenever she hears the story told), and Samantha never got the chance to even the score properly. Add to that the fact that Samantha deemed Corvis 'less' than herself at first sight, on account of his morbid demeanour and (apparently) poorly-conditioned hair, and you can probably see why her resentment blossomed so quickly. Corvis, for his part, did a stellar job of pretending he didn't notice.
Impressing the booking team - somehow - Samantha was entered into a tournament to determine the next contenders for the Parental Advisory championship. Beginning on February 21st, Samantha and Corvis advanced through a Playground of Horrors (weapons cage) match, eliminating Homicide and Mikey Sullivan from the competition. At the semifinal stage, Samantha defeated Renegade in a - surprise! - straightforward singles match. In the finals, Samantha was placed against Hisoka, Carla Vicious and Mike Miller in a Bucket o' Blood match, which is every bit as daft and violent as it sounds. By virtue of being first to fill their little plastic buckets to the rim with blood, Samantha and Hisoka advanced to face John Valentine at the Xtreme Interactive After Hourz supercard...where, by the power of cheat, Valentine gave Hisoka the slip, and then beat Samantha fair and square, in a match which both seemed to be taking a little lightly.
Shortly afterwards, John's longtime wife, Rosetta, died mysteriously - and in a turn that surprised precisely no-one, Samantha and John shacked up. Their relationship was complicated slightly by Samantha's continued quest for the PA Title that John still held, but they rarely let this get in the way of the important things. Like sex.
Samantha's good times in the XFC were about to come to an end, however; after a victory in a triple threat match against DraVen Frost and Rayne at Blood Fusion II on May 7th, 2007, Samantha disappeared from the company without trace. No explanation was ever given for this incident.
[edit] Wilderness Days
Though there are no official records of what happened to Samantha in the time between her disappearance from XFC and her reappearance elsewhere, rumours speak of a reunion with her father, whom she's never known. The one clear fact that has arisen regarding the incident(s) is that, through unknown methods, Samantha is no longer enslaved to the will of any supernatural entities, and now acts solely to satisfy her own ambitions.
[edit] Divas Unleashed (Veronica Valiant)
Following her return from obscurity, Samantha decided to sign up for the popular all-girls federation, Divas Unleashed. However, it seems her release from Abaddon's grip has not made her sleep any easier, as she decided to apply under a secondary identity - Veronica Valiant. Undergoing extensive facial reconstruction surgery and filing false identification papers from many sources, 'Veronica' would make for a brilliant security measure against assasination attempts and the like if Samantha bothered to act differently - which she doesn't. So the whole effort was mostly a waste of time.
DU happened to be in a slightly chaotic state when Veronica was signed to the roster, which wasn't especially convenient for her. This delayed her on-screen debut until the Exile Christmas Special on December 12th 2008, where she defeated Autumn Leigh. This was followed by a win over the federation's resident masked weirdo Henshin Belleza, and a reluctant partnership with Belleza at the 'Inauguration Special' filmed in Washington D.C., made even more difficult by management's insistence on making both women dress up as pilgrims. In spite of these difficulties, this partnership proved successful; however, the two were pitted against one another yet again at Control of the Knife on February 8th 2009, this time in a triple threat match also featuring Tracee Nguyen, with Tracee's Askai title on the line. After Henshin disposed of Tracee, Veronica nailed Henshin with the Market Crash to take the win and the title, the first belt she'd held in her whole career.
Next, DU began its first Asian tour since 2004 with an Exile broadcast from Nagasaki, where Veronica celebrated her Askai victory by no-showing the Champions' Party, sending Jun Takada to recite her speech in her place. Fortunately, she decided to earn her pay later on the show, teaming up with new Rockford State champion Katie Kooper to defeat Tracee and Totally Radd. On the tour's Singapore stopover, Veronica continued her winning ways by beating homeland hero Makaze in an impromptu Singapore Canes match, and then pinned Henshin once again in Hong Kong to score the win for herself and teammates Travis Kooper and Luna. (Henshin's partners were Mercedes Vargas and Makaze) On the tour's penultimate stopover in Manila, Veronica was part of the 'Thrilla in Manila' Rumble-format match, devised by Crystal Deymonaz as a way of punishing Meggie Skyfyre; after making a late entry, Veronica made several eliminations and survived a sneak attack from DU Hall of Famer Star, making it to the final 3 entrants before being eliminated by the winner, Icenique. The last stop on the tour was the June PPV, Terror in Tokyo, where Veronica faced DU Hall of Famer and multi-time champion Star one-on-one. This was quite possibly the single most brutal match of Valiant's career to date, and both women suffered for their craft - but come the end, Star succeeded where many others had failed, and ended Veronica's winning streak in the company.
DU next began a tour of the West Coast of the USA, beginning with an Exile taping in Seattle, Washington. After cutting a confident and cocky promo earlier on the show, Veronica teamed with onetime foe Makaze - both having lost matches at Terror in Tokyo and with scars to prove it - to defeat the unstable team of Laura Seton and Icenique. The tour's next stop was in Portland, Oregon, where Veronica earned her spot in the semi-finals of Tara Lee's tournament to find a new Unleashed Champion, pinning former Unleashed Champ KibbyD in a fatal 4-way match also involving Mercedes Vargas and Courtney Monroe (of Blonde Ambition fame). Following this, Exile shifted to Sacramento, California, where Veronica cemented her place in the finals of the Tara Lee Invitational with a pinfall victory over Icenique - and, in a shocking development, formed a pact with Mercedes Vargas, each woman putting aside their dislike for one another for the sake of better odds at gaining some personal glory. The next Exile, filmed in Los Angeles, marked the formal debut of Veronica and Mercedes as a team, as they beat Tara Lee's pet enforcers, Felicity and Totally Radd. The last stage on the West Coast tour was the Divacide PPV, where Veronica clashed with Laura Seton in the main event, to determine the new Unleashed Champion. As the heavens above San Francisco opened up with torrential rain and shocking thunder, drenching the crowd and combatants who bravely stayed within the open-air arena, the two women hammered each other with the strongest moves in their arsenals, neither wishing to falter now after pushing themselves so far. In the end, although Laura fought with all her heart, she had no answer to a punch loaded with one of Veronica's enormous watches, nor the, um, shocking introduction of a live power cable into the match, and so Valiant won her first-ever world title...
[edit] Diamond Star Wrestling
Shortly after joining DU, Samantha was invited to join Diamond Star Wrestling, a small indy fed based in Nevada, ran by millionaire Veronica 'Ronnie' Benedict. How she did so under her original face and name is unclear. Though Samantha shows a certain disdain for the smallish nature of the company, not to mention its current establishments, she still seems to enjoy working there.
Her first match for the company, on the 17th January 2009 edition of Unleashed!, earned her a victory over Aimee Christian. She also took the time to interfere in the match between Sayoko Nanohara and Lara Leigh Love, attacking Sayoko and causing her to lose. On the next broadcast, Samantha suffered a loss to the sadistic, gothic Kiora Donavon. Prior to the filming of the delayed One Hour Special, Samantha defeated Sayoko in another dark match, winning by means of a knockout - the Japanese striker's own speciality. On the next Unleashed!, Samantha was not booked, and made her displeasure known to DSW owner Ronnie Benedict - which may have been partly the reason why, the following month, Samantha was put in the main event against the fearsome 'Mockingbird' Nina Grimsson, with number-one contendership to the Shooting Star Championship (then held by 'Demolition' Debbie Denton) on the line. However, Samantha left the House of Blues before the show had officially got underway, citing a family emergency as the cause, and did not return for the duration of the evening, forcing a change to the planned card. Exactly what consequences Samantha will face as a result of this mess are as yet unknown.
[edit] Elsewhere...
In a surprising development, it was announced that Samantha would return to XFC for the 2009 World Blood Bowl team tournament. She made her first appearance for the company in 2 years at the conclusion of End of Days on May 12th 2009, joining the team of Tommy Chuckles, Jack Crowley and Lucifer Hawks. Additionally, it was revealed that Chuckles is in fact Samantha's son (!). Alas, XFC went into a state of hibernation shortly afterwards due to backstage political difficulties, so it remains unclear exactly what Samantha and Tommy were planning to do together.
Samantha was also one of the 30 participants in the 2009 Angels & Amazons Rumble, an inter-promotional event held annually to showcase the best talents women's wrestling has to offer. Entering at number 16, Samantha eliminated Anastasia Meredith Romanov very quickly, helped with the group-elimination of Goblin Queen and Tanya "T-Rex" Record, took advantage of some unintentional help from Taylor MacKenzie to get rid of Sheila Sims, and lasted for nearly half an hour before being thrown to the floor by Tesla St. James. Tesla was eliminated almost immediately afterwards, allowing Samantha to punch her in the face and throw her into the steps for a little retribution. The full broadcast of the show can be viewed here.
Not long after A&A 2009, Samantha was attached to another Vegas-based promotion, Showgirl Wrestling Entertainment (SWE). It was assumed that Samantha gravitated towards it purely out of convenience; after all, she had recently set up an office in 'Sin City' after realising how much time she was spending there as part of her work, so travel expenses for SWE shows would be minimal. On the first show, broadcasted June 10th, Samantha defeated DeeDee Summers by submission, and she was next booked as one of five women competing in a Ladder match to decide the inaugural SWE champion on the second show. However, the organisation was hit by backstage troubles, and to date, the second show has never been shown; in fact, nobody is certain if it was even filmed, and Samantha has yet to speak on the matter.
[edit] Associates
[edit] Jun Takada/Random Suit
Takada is a Japanese-American man in his mid-thirties, and Samantha's longtime vice president/immediate underling. He seems to have been around throughout Samantha's entire career, and was the only staff member who stuck with her during her absence. For all intents and purposes, he is a doormat, following Samantha's instructions without question, though he shows more assertive traits when she is absent. It is clear that he loves Samantha deeply, and as of October 2009, he and Samantha have now entered what most people would call a 'relationship', despite Samantha having shown little inclination towards such a thing over the previous years the two have known one another. At around the same time, Takada took over Samantha's leadership duties within Paragon Helix at her request, so that she would have more time to focus on her wrestling career and other unofficial duties.
Due to the anonymous approach he applies to his work, for years he was known only as 'the Random Suit'. Even Samantha was unaware of his name until immediately before her return to wrestling.
Curiously, Takada's name has recently appeared on the Twitter social networking website. His profile can be viewed here.
[edit] Melanie Guiterrez
Melanie is Samantha's current secretary, or personal assistant if you prefer. Apparently, she made a good impression at her job interview by punching Samantha. She can be quite a fiery presence, and rarely remembers to keep a civil tongue in her head, but she does her job well, so Samantha hasn't yet found a reason to get rid of her - often to her disappointment.
[edit] Tommy Chuckles
A homicidal psychopath with no concept of morality and a twisted sense of humour, Tommy Chuckles surfaced out of the blue in the now-closed Global Wrestling Incorporated and cut a swathe through much of the more conventional roster members without rhyme or reason, seemingly focused solely upon hurting people to satisfy some inner desire for carnage. Whilst the man behind the makeup seemed a total enigma, and precious few details have surfaced since those days, the 'Prince of Perversions' publicly declared that Samantha was in fact his mother during the End of Dayz 2009 broadcast from XFC. Generally speaking, the mother and son keep their relationship long-distance, as it would not do for Samantha to be frequently seen with such company. Make no mistake, however; she loves him dearly, and will do anything, no matter how challenging or terrible, to protect or avenge him.
[edit] Monsters, Inc.
Whilst Samantha is the head of an extremely powerful and influential company, there are some tasks she needs seeing-to which are beyond the constraints of the law, or the capabilities of a mere private militia. For this, she turns to what is formally known as Metahuman Patrol Team 01, but has been nicknamed 'Monsters, Inc.' by someone in Paragon Helix with a sense of humour, possibly Melanie. The current team roster is as follows:
[edit] Lord Noon
Anachronistic gunslinger with a warped sense of chivalry. Lord Noon's true identity is known only to a select few, and he is not prone to speaking of his past. Most commonly seen wearing a stained black tuxedo, with frilled shirt and bow tie, and his entire head is locked inside a wooden helmet/mask resembling the head of a ventriloquist's dummy. He is generally soft-spoken, but when angered, his rage is awe-inspiring, and his capacity to hurt and maim is almost beyond comprehension. Was reported dead mid-February 2009 after his body was hauled from the sea around an island somewhere in the Pacific, his resurrection is just another question added to a man whose entire life is one big enigma. Preferred Weapon: 'Sweet Bertha Faye' (customised revolver with 12-shot cylinder)
[edit] Anti-Ninja
Goichi Takada, brother of Jun, learnt the ways of the ancient ninja from a hidden monastery somewhere on the outskirts of Yokohama over a twelve-year period from the time he was only five years old. Since then, he seems to have...forgotten those ways altogether. Escaping to Scandinavia after the Takada clan were exiled from Japan, he spent years as an unemployed drifter, funding his drinking problems with cheques sent from Jun's account, but when Samantha overheard Jun talking of his brother, she asked that he be flown in for a trial run, which is still ongoing. Clad in bright white clothing at all times, Goichi does not fit most peoples' idea of how a ninja should look, and nor does he behave that way, favouring high explosives and 'shock & awe' tactics over any stealth practices. Preferred Weapon: Stainless-steel Shuriken stars w/ semtex cores (3-second fuse)
[edit] Bioweapon
There are those who say he was part of an experimental 'super-soldier' project. Others think he was caught by friendly-fire, from some sort of biological agent used without UN approval. And then there's the people who think he simply saw the horrors of modern warfare, the uncertainty of not knowing who the enemy is, and the disapproval and mistrust of the citizens back home he swore to defend. Whatever the case, there isn't much left of the man called Bioweapon that you could still call a 'man'. He doesn't speak, doesn't sleep, has no obvious cognitive processes, and can't follow complicated instructions. What he does do quite well is kill; he needs nothing more than his inhumanly strong limbs, but even standing within fifteen feet of Bioweapon puts one at risk of infection from the many diseases he is a carrier for. Preferred Weapon: Himself
[edit] Failsafe
Mostly dismissed as a mere rumour, background chatter has increased recently regarding the presence of an entirely mechanical being within the ranks of Paragon Helix. The codename 'Failsafe' has often been thrown around in decrypted radio transmissions, but this was thought to refer to a group - until it became clear that a voice was responding to that name. Of all the Paragon Helix agents seen in the field when 'Failsafe' is deployed, the most likely candidate for the role would be a modified UH-53 Pave Low combat helicopter, which was previously assumed to be remote-controlled, but could be autonomous. Whatever the case, judging from its voice, 'Failsafe' has an acquired taste for carnage on a massive scale, and has a very low opinion of human beings in general. Whilst he can be outmanouevred in closed environments, he rarely gives up a chase unless ordered to, and his sheer power means there are few safe hiding places when he is involved. Preferred Weapon: Twin-linked liquid-based flamethrowers
[edit] H.A. Maccrossant
Possibly the strangest of all the 'Monsters', H.A. (Harvey Abraham) Maccrossant channels the elemental forces of Chaos through his being, and is empowered by them at the expense of his sanity and identity. Every day, it seems that H.A. welcomes an entirely new personality into his skull, swinging unpredictably from happy-go-lucky to enraged to spaced-out and back again, in both directions. His wardrobe is as random as his speech patterns, with the only consistent visual trend being his noticable facial scars; he seems to have no flesh at all on the lower half of his face. Quite what caused this accident - if it was an accident - is unclear. What is known is that, in combat, Maccrossant isn't anything special...except for the fact that funny things keep happening around him. Inexplicable gas-pipe ruptures, traffic lights malfunctioning, guns jamming, scaffolding collapsing - H.A. has no more control over these things than an earthworm has over the weather, but that, as he will often say (when he feels like talking) is how he likes it. Preferred Weapon: Varies

[edit] Signature Moves
- Breaking Even (Drop Toe Hold quickly followed by a double Knee Drop to the spine)
- Circle of Hell (Crucifix Head Scissor - check the SmackDown games, it’s definitely in the 07 version - but Samantha stops before taking down the opponent, instead opting to keep hold of their left arm and pull it backwards whilst keeping the head locked with her legs. Submission move.)
- Eldritch Storm (A sharp slap, a left kick in the midsection, a right knee to the back of the elbow, twin eye pokes and a chop to each side of the neck in one tasty package)
- Settled Account (Samantha links her right arm with her opponent’s left at the elbow and twirls behind their back, twisting around them and bringing them down with a Bulldog on the other side)
- Profit and Loss (A reverse-spinning Sweep Kick, followed by a falling Axe Kick that strikes the downed opponent’s throat with Samantha’s calf)
- Pride (With opponent in the corner, Samantha will prop them up on the turnbuckle in a Superplex position, before grabbing one of their hands and twisting the arm, so it’s almost an Undertaker rope-walk in reverse. After a pause, Samantha will proceed to tug on the arm, sending the opponent crashing to the mat.)
- You're Fired! (Randy Orton's Concussion-Causing Kick of Doom. Or whatever it's called.)
- Human Resource (Samantha grabs both of the opponent’s arms, then knocks their feet out from under them with a low Dropkick; with her back on the ground, Samantha proceeds to place one foot under the opponent’s jaw and push as hard as she can, whilst simultaneously pulling on the arms. Submission move.)
- Falling Stock (Locks in a Dragon Sleeper, then turns and falls into a Twist of Fate)
- Dangerous Vanity (A wide-ranging smack in the face with a very large, very heavy and very expensive Dolce & Gabbana watch)
- Skipped Pleasantries (Samantha feigns exhaustion and sinks to her knees, shoulders slumped; when the opponent gets too close, she grabs them by the ears, pulls them in close and bites their nose. No, it's not legal, but...well, neither's that one with the watch, so I'm guessing Samantha doesn't care much.)
[edit] Finishing Moves
- The Pink Slip (From behind the opponent, Samantha performs a handstand, and hooks her legs under the opponent’s armpits; she then proceeds to flip forwards, driving the opponent into the mat with a sort of rollover Powerbomb. Can be held on for a pin.)
- Brought to Heel (Samantha grabs one of the opponent’s arms, does a quick arm wrench and follows it with a stiff kick to one shin, knocking the opponent down on their knees. Samantha then places one foot on the side of the opponent’s head and stamps on it firmly, whilst pulling on the locked arm as hard as she can. Submission hold.)
- Budget Cutter (When standing behind a dazed opponent, Samantha places her hands on their shoulders, then hikes up into a handstand that lifts her over their head. As she falls down on the other side, she grabs the opponent's head, bringing them to the mat with an RKO/Diamond Cutter.)
- Market Crash (Samantha lifts the opponent onto the top of the turnbuckle (or any other elevated position), then steps up behind them. She pulls them to their feet and applies a Full Nelson hold, before diving forwards, tucking her knees up to her chest in midair. When the opponent hits the ground face-first, Samantha's knees and shins press into their spine with all her weight behind them.)
[edit] Other Notes
[edit] Titles/Accomplishments
- 1x Divas Unleashed Askai Champion (Feb. 8 2009 - )
- 1x DU Unleashed Champion (Oct. 26 2009 - )
- Ranked #62 on the Other Side of eWrestling Top 75 performers 2008
[edit] Fighting Style
Brawler/Submission Technician - Lacking almost any formal training, Samantha is a brawler at heart, unconcerned with making things look flashy or 'cool'; she just focuses on making her enemies squeal like stuck pigs. She does, however, have a surprising depth of knowledge when it comes to submission holds. She's also fond of using weapons and foreign objects whenever the occasion presents itself.
[edit] Ring Attire
Samantha keeps her white-blonde hair tied back into a ponytail that reaches the base of her neck, with two bangs at the front curving down toward her cheeks. Her lip gloss is peach in colour. She wears a one-piece outfit made from form-fitting rubber, in a dark blue/silver colour, with sizable open areas around the shoulders, back and midsection. It has three buckled straps and a ‘bra’ of similar material across the front to keep it on. The gloves are made of similar material; these are a dark red/purple colour and reach past her elbows, also featuring numerous buckles. Her boots have a short heel, are the same colour as the one piece, and reach up to the middle of her thighs, with the laces running all the way up the front before tying at the top. (if you’re a dedicated gamer, it’s the same as Nina Williams’ ‘wrestling’ costume from Death By Degrees)
