Overview[]
Implosion was Total Wrestling Annihilation's second ever Pay Per View event, and it was held from the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey, holding over 15,000 people at the event. Headlining the show was supposed to be Kyler McCann vs. Undertaker for the TWA Global Championship, but it ended up being a Hell in a Cell match, announced right before the match took place by Paul Heyman. Even though the contest was under 'no rules' inside the cell, it still ended in a No Contest, after Undertaker speared McCann off the top of the cell and neither man was conscious as they laid on the steel entrance ramp after the fall.
Christian Cage and Edge both entered TWA around the same time, and from day one in the company built bad blood against each other. Their feud culminated at this event, where they fought each other in a Last Man Standing Match. Christian was able to beat Edge and keep him down for a count of ten.
The High Rollers' first tag title reign was ended on this night, as a new team, Chemical Darkness, stepped up and dominated in the TLC Match for the TWA Tag belts. Chemical Darkness consisted of Tai Burns and The Darkness, and they were a new team in TWA. Tai broke up with the rest of The Circus, and ended up pairing with Darkness even though he originally had plans of going solo. Chemical Darkness proved to be a legitimate threat when they grabbed the hanging belts and won their first championships in the company.
