The UWL Pride Championship is an inactive Championship competed for in the Universal Wrestling League.

History[]

The Pride Championship was created on January 11th, 2006 when Teddy Davis beat Jim Wicked in a tournament final to become the first Champion it was then named the UWL Jr. Heavyweight Championship. Davis would go on to become the longest reigning Pride Champion during the belts period of activity, holding the belt for roughly six of the eight months it was active.

When Danny Danielson defeated Davis on June 24th the belt was renamed the UWL Pride Championship a few weeks later on July 9th. With the new name came a new set of rules. However, on August 10th the belt was unified with and dissolved into the UWL Heritage Championship when Kid Luck defeated Danielson. The Pride rules never applied to the Heritage Championship afterwards.

Pride Rules[]

After becoming known as the Pride Championship several rules were applied to the belt:

  • Each wrestler gets only three rope breaks. Once a person used his three breaks it did not matter if he grabbed the ropes during a pinfall or submission, it would not break the hold.
  • Closed-fisted shots are banned.
  • If a wrestler is outside the ring for 20-seconds he could be Disqualified.
  • The belt could change hands on a Disqualification.
