Gwendolyn Constance Thompson (nee Briese) is a American professional wrestler, singer, and actress of Irish heritage. She is currently signed to Femme Fatale Wrestling, where she is currently the FFW No Surrender Champion.
In her six year active career, Wendy has won 23 titles: 15 singles, and 8 tag. Her most notable title reigns include: the BWA Heavyweight Championship, the X3W Heavyweight Championship, 3 WFWA World Cruiserweight Championships, and 2 WFWA World Tag Team Championships with her former partner and current husband Terrence "Twister" Thompson. In addition, she and Terrence have twice won "Tag Team of the Year" awards (2002, 2010), are the 2004 Crockett Cup Tag Team Tournament Champions, and were inducted into the WFWA Hall of Fame in 2007.
Early Life
Edit
Wendy was born on May 27, 1981 in New York City to Augustus and Gayle Briese, two Broadway actors who had emigrated from Ireland in 1980. From a very early age, Wendy was trained in acting, singing, and dancing, in the expectations that she would eventually follow in her parent's footsteps. At the age of eight, she attended Blakely's Academy, an upscale private schol in upstate New York well-known for its Youth Drama program. Wendy would attend the Academy for six years before her sudden removal from the school by her parents, at her request. The Briese family would move to Indianapolis several years later, with Wendy attending the public Pike High School in the northwestern corner of the city. At the age of seventeen, she would meet and begin dating Terrence Thompson, a young mechanic and auto racer she met when her mother's car suffered a flat in front of the garage where Terrence worked.
Despite her parent's protests, Wendy's relationship with Terrence continued, after she graduated high school and became a regular cast member at the Indianapolis Municpal Theater. However, things would change in August of 2000, when Thompson was involved in an incident at North Marion Speedway when he physically attacked another driver following a late race crash. As a result, Terrence was expelled from racing, and sentenced to undergo psychiatric treatment. Wendy stood by her boyfriend's side the entire time, but was devastated to find that he had elected to move to Boston, in the hopes of becoming a professional wrestler to fill the void his expulsion from racing had caused. Ultimately, Wendy would decide to attend Boston University, and moved in October 2001 to be with her boyfriend.
Unexpected Beginnings and Early Struggles
Edit
REVolution Wrestling
Edit
Once in Boston, Wendy, who had initially been adamantly against the idea of Thompson in wrestling, became fascinated by the ins and outs of the sport, particularily what few technicians the hardcore-style REV had, and she would become a mainstay in her boyfriend's promotional videos. She would not remain on the sidelines for long, however. After Thompson was injured in a stretcher match against Omnipotent in early December, the owner of the REV offered Wendy the opportunity to pick her husband's replacement for any match he would miss while on injured leave. Upset over the way he had been beaten, Wendy named herself the replacement in a six-man tag match, callously assuming that her partners would carry her to victory. This backfired, as both partners were jumped and injured before the match, leading to its cancellation. However, Wendy was cornered in the ring by Omnipotent and his stable, and it was only through fortunate intervention that she escaped the attack without injury. Wendy's first match proper came just a week later, when she defeated fellow debutant Paolo Sanchez. That would be her only match in the first incarnation of REV, as the company went on hiatus shortly after.
Empire Wrestling Federation
Edit
Despite Terrence's reluctance for his girlfriend to be competing, the two decided to form a tag team, which they named the WhirlyBirdz. The name would be quickly extended to the WhirlyBirdz Vehicular Hit Squad, thanks to Terrence's penchant for hitting rivals vehicles with his own car. This gained the new team notoriety in their first appearance in the EWF, as Terrence totalled the cars of the tag Team Champions, the Pennsylvania Wrecking Crew. However, as both were still very inexperienced, they struggled heavily, losing their first four tag matches in the new company, with Wendy especially becoming discouraged by their downturn of fortune. Even adding a manager in the form of Daniel Pollaski did not improve their luck, as the newcomer served more as an irritant than the missing piece of the puzzle they were hoping. The nadir of the Birdz' careers came in mid-February, where both faced Television Champion Lupin in a handicapped match, with Lupin easily dominating both wrestlers.
The very next week, as they were preparing to face two incoming tag teams, one of the teams, the Lincoln Park Mafia, showed a video of Wendy undressing in her locker room. Despite winning the match, Wendy was incensed over this violation of her privacy, and she attacked the LPM's manager, who planted the video, with a tire iron, severely injuring one of his legs. Remorseful over taking things to far, Wendy flat-out refused to use weapons from then on, save for the most dire of circumstances. Still, the event sparked a turning point for the Birdz' careers, as they would go on to defeat the New Breed in the weeks to come to claim the EWF Tag Team Championships, the first title either wrestler had ever won. They would then retain the titles against the Mafia two weeks later, but unfortunately, the subsequent closure of the EWF once again left the Birdz without a home.
Return to REV & Legal Issues
Edit
The Birdz returned to the REV, which was reopening its doors after a four-month hiatus, and found their fledgling success in EWF had carried over, with both becoming favorites to claim the vacant REV Championship. While Terrence would go on to eventually claim the championship, Wendy's hopes were dashed during the Bunkhouse Battle Royal, when she was removed from the cage by police, and arrested under the accusation hitting rival wrestler Shadowflare with Terrence's car. Wendy vehemently maintained her innocence, but was nonetheless incarcerated for several weeks. Exoneration came in the most unexpected fashion, when Omnipotent and Darren Michaels, both bitter rivals of Terrence, proclaimed her innocence, with Omnipotent providing an alibi that Wendy was across the parking lot when the attack happened, and Michaels revealing the real assailant was Brad Garrett, Shadowflare's own manager.
World Champions
Edit
Next Generation Wrestling Association
Edit
On the advice of Joey Tesauro, a friend they had met in the EWF, the Birdz signed with the NGWA, the New England region of the World Wrestling Alliance Interfed, where they competed concurrently with the REV. Their success continued, and the Birdz immediately announced themselves as contenders for the vacant WFWA Tag Team Championships. Wendy also became a top contender to the NGWA Women's Championship almost immediately, and on June 30 captured the belt with a dominating win over Kandy to claim her first singles belt.
One week later, the vacant WFWA Tag Team titles were finally decided via a nine-team battle royal. Terrence and Wendy survived to the final three before being tossed out- only both were tangled in the ropes, and watched as the other two remaining teams eliminated each other, shocking the world in becoming the champions. Wendy was shocked even more when Terence proposed to her following the match, and eagerly accepted. The next week, Wendy entered in the Blast Off, a 60-entrant battle royal. Entering 24th, she finished 11th, lasting for 73 minutes, eliminating two, and coming within 3 minutes of the end.
Following the Blast Off, the Birdz embarked on accomplishing a truly remarkable feat: they successfully defended the Tag Team Championships in each of the WFWA's five regions within the span of a week, with a second defense in the UWF (Midwest region), making it 6 defenses in 8 days. However, one of their defenses, a DQ win over the Dark Angels (Ulfric and Michael Lennox) after the Angels savagely beat them with chairs, left a bitter taste in the Birdz mouths. Furious, they challenged the Dark Angels to an anything goes street fight at the upcoming Summer Games III Pre-show- then publicly refused to use any weapons during the match. Despite fighting valiantly, the Dark Angels proved too much, first taking out Terrence, then pinning Wendy to capture the tag titles. Wendy did manage to save some face two days later at Sumer Games 3, defending her Women's Championship against Brittany Fox, despite Fox's repeated use of illegal weapons.
Rematches & Personal Issues
Edit
After losing the championship, Wendy began to feel increased pressure from her parents to give up wrestling, and leave Terrence. Wendy resisted these demands, and vowed to regain the World Tag Team Championships, furiously storming back to claim the NGWA Regional Tag Team Championships from the Four Japanese Horsemen on September 8, with the WFWA announcing the rematch for September 22. This created several problems as Wendy was also scheduled to both defend her championship against Amy Heartbreaker, and compete in the semi-finals of the Super J Cruiserweight Cup- against Terrence. Realizing the predictament his client was in being triple booked in such major matches, Wendy's manager Pollaski- who had become the NGWA commissioner just two weeks prior- was convinced by Heartbreaker to change the Women's Championship to a bikini contest.
The night ended up being a disaster of epic proportions. Furious over the degradation of the Women's Championship, Wendy refused to participate, firing her manager and forfeiting the belt to Heartbreaker. Then, she lost to Terrence in the Super J tournament after her father Augustus interfered, hitting Thompson. When Wendy refused to pin him as a result, an enraged Gus hit her as well, and Terrence ended up covering her to advance. To cap off the night, their attempt to regain the World Tag Team Championships went up in smoke after the Dark Angels again hit them with chairs, the Birdz winning the match by DQ, but not the titles. Wendy would reluctantly rehire Pollaski back after the show, on the promise that he never abuse his power as commissioner to help her again.
On October 3, Wendy made her debut in the American Wrestling Association, the new Missouri region of the WFWA. Her first night in, she captured the Missouri State Championship, her first singles non-restricted championship. Things looked to be even better when it was announced the Birdz would again challenge the Dark Angels on October 16- this time in a steel cage. The match was the most furious fought yet, with the Birdz yet again headed for another defeat, with Ulfric out of the cage, and the Lennox at the top. The turning point came when Wendy hit her Vortexinator off the top of the cage, sending the other Lennox back inside. Fearing his partners vulnerability, Ulfric raced back into the cage, only to be nailed with his own barbed wire wrapped chair courtesy of Thompson. Wendy held Lennox at bay while Terrence pinned Ulfric, making the Birdz only the second two-time champs in Alliance history. Wendy's wave of success crested the next week, when she won the REV Old School Championship, finally gaining a championship in the company that had given her a start.
Mother's Death & Father's Arrest
Edit
Despite having a tremendous month of October, Wendy was coming under more and more pressure by her parents to retire from the sport, despite her adamant refusal to do so. It had gotten to the point that the friction had caused a strain in her parent's relationship, a strain that was ripped wide open when Gus revealed that he had been having an affair. While defending the WFWA Tag titles at the Shockwave PPV in Las Vegas, Wendy was notified that her mother had been in an accident involving a semi-truck, and not expected to survive. The strain on Wendy following her mother's death, coupled with the unwanted sexual advances of rival wrestler James Keiler, caused Wendy to snap, and literally attack anyone she felt had ever wronged her. After nailing 14 wrestlers between the AWA and NGWA, Wendy was suspended for her actions. While on suspension, Wendy was attacked by a large man in a haz-mat suit, who claimed to be her long-lost half brother, a claim supported by her father.
January 2002 was especially hard on Wendy, as she lost her Old School Championship to Todd Claybourne on January 9, followed by the NGWA Tag Team Championships on the 12th to Batteries Not Included after they were jumped from behind by two masked men. She then lost her Missouri State Championship to Azrael six days later. The Birdz did gain the REV Tag Team Championships, only for the titles to be decomissioned two weeks later, with the REV closing shortly afterwards. Making matters worse was the continued persistance of her half-brother, Yuri "Chernobyl" Ganiyeva, who interfered in several of Wendy's matches, including a rematch against Azrael, this time for the WFWA World Cruiserweight Championship.
On February 5, Augustus Briese, Yuri Ganiyeva, and Yuri's mother Ivana Ganiyeva were arrested on charges connected to Gayle's death, after discovered traffic camera footage revealed she had been pushed by Yuri into traffic, instead of stumbling drunk like Augustus had originally claimed. Wendy was both devastated and liberated by this revalation.
Dissolution & Injury
Edit
Breakup of Tag Team
Edit
With Wendy psychologically unstable, and the WFWA Tag Team picture becoming red-hot, Pollaski devised a plan to buy the Birdz reign some more time. He booked a six-man tag team match, involving the Birdz, the Pharaohs of Rage, and the League of X-Treme Gentlemen- with one member of each team on each side. The idea was to trigger infighting between the other two teams, although Wendy wasn't told, as Pollaski knew she would disapprove. Again, the plan backfired, with Wendy ending up being the only one to take the match seriously, as she felt facing Terrence to be a worthy challenge. Wendy won the match by pinning Terrence, infuriating her boyfriend, causing a strain in their relationship that would be stretched thinner and thinner.
Things finally came to a head on March 3, when the Birdz defended against the Pharaohs of Rage. Being double-booked again, Wendy won the Massachusetts State Championship from the Book Worm earlier in the night, further increasing the rift between her and Terrence. After missing a move and hitting Terrence inadverdantly, Terrence angrily stormed out of the match, leaving a stunned and broken-hearted Wendy to face the Pharaohs alone, and she was quickly pinned. This effectively ended both the tag team and the relationship, as Wendy would move out of Terrence's RV, and into the house of Alexandra LeBettique, a former classmate and rival from her days at Blakeley's.
Like Wendy had been, Alexandra was fascinated by the idea of wrestling, and Wendy agreed to let her be her manager, as Pollaski had seemingly sided with Terrence in the breakup. At the WFWA International Wars Pre-Show, she challenged for the Hurricane Wrestling Championship, but was forced to submit due to Dan Easton's Miami Crab (this is, to date, the last time she has tapped out). However, at the actual International Wars PPV two days later, she defeated Dragon Jones to capture the WFWA World Cruiserweight Championship that had eluded her in January. After the show, Wendy was attacked by the NEW Army, a band of wrestlers from a defunct WFWA Region that wanted to resurrect the company by taking over the NGWA. She was saved by Terrence, and the two reconciled, although Wendy kept Alexandra as a manager.
Despite reconciling, the Birdz decided it would be better to focus on being singles competitors for the time being. They entered one final tag competitoin- the Crockett Cup Tournament, as a way of proving that they still trusted each other. They cooperated brilliantly, reaching the semifinals of the 16-team tournament, losing to eventual Champions Violence, Inc, all the while watching each other's backs for more attacks by the NEW Army.
Broken Ankle & The Death of NGWA
Edit
Wendy's career would hit another snag, though. After losing the Massachusetts State Championship to Jake Devins, only to regain it two weeks later, Wendy would then lose the Cruiserweight Championship to Rune Archer after he reversed her Emerald Cyclone into a powerbomb. Three days later, Wendy defended the Massachusetts State Championship against NEW Army member Jacob Harrowsmith III. During the match, Alexandra, who had been showing feelings for Harrowsmith, turned on her, hitting her with a brick filled purse, and Harrowsmith severely broke her ankle, sidelining her for three months.
Forced to watch on the sidelines, Wendy watched as the NEW gradually began to take over the company, as leader Eric Moreau usurped Pollaski as NGWA Commissioner. On May 27, Wendy's Birthday, Terrence was set to challenge Ricky Taverna for the NGWA Championship. After winning, he presented Wendy with a birthday cake in front of the fans, only for the NEW Army to attack masquerading as the bakers, and kidnapping Wendy, holding her ransom to force Terrence to grant Harrowsmith a title shot at the All or Nothing PPV. Terrence eagerly accepted, only for the announcement to be made that the Main Event would actually be a four on four steel cage elimination match, with control of the company at stake. Terrence was named to the NGWA team to defend the company.
Terrence defended the title against Harrowsmith in a brutal bloody match, coming away with a victory. The All or Nothing match was even more brutal, with Pollaski and Wendy on the outside rooting for the NGWA, while Alexandra and Moreau represented the NEW. With only two wrestlers on each side, Alexandra managed to reach into the cage and slip a sash around Terrence's neck, choking him and preventing him from saving Red Wolf from being eliminated. Furious, Wendy hit Alexandra with her crutch, freeing Terrence and causing enough of a distraction for Terrence to pin Harrowsmith again. With it down to Terrence and Deuce, Moreau interfered, costing Terence the win, and Wendy was forced to tearfully watch the NGWA dissolve right before her eyes.
To the Bayou
Edit
Return & Second Cruiserweight Title Win
Edit
With the NGWA dead, the Birdz signed with WFWA's Ontario region, and Wendy was immediately named CCW's next challenger for the WFWA World Cruiserweight Championship upon her being cleared to compete in late July. She competed in the Battle in Seattle 50-man street fight on August 1 to determine the challenger for the WFWA World Title at Summer Games. Entering 43rd, she made it to the final five. She then challenged Wolf on August 12, becoming the first ever 2-time WFWA World Cruiserweight Champion. After that, she was forced to take a month off, having not been selected for participation in Summer Games IV.
The CCW went on hiatus not long after Summer Game IV, so Wendy focused primarily on defending her Cruiserweight Championship. Eventually, at the coaxing of Terrence and Pollaski, they signed with the Bayou Wrestling Association, WFWA's Louisiana region, finding it more stable and a better fit. This proved unpopular with the Canadian fans after it was revealed the Birdz would not return when the CCW resumed, and it led to Wendy being roundly booed when she went north to defend her title against Evan Hurley, nearly overwhelming her as she wasn't accustomed to being hated.
Her next defense was against Ronin at the WFWA Shockwave PPV. Ronin used all sorts of psychological manipulations on her, even going so far as having her father record a video from prison of him giving Ronin permission to kill her. Wendy originally lost the title to Ronin, but the decision was reversed when Pollaski, protesting, forced the official to watch the replay. Wendy would then successfully defend in a fatal-four way against Kakuma, Sam Horrey, and Black Hawk, marking her seventh successful Cruiserweight Championship defense.
Feud With Misty Xiao
Edit
Wendy's eighth defense would be the last of her second reign, as she faced Misty Xiao. With the advantage, Wendy went for the Vortexinator, only for Xiao to squirt a red mist in her face, setting her up for her Hello Kitty stunner, and ending Wendy's reign at one day short of six months. Wendy promptly regained the #1 contendership to the Championship, winning a special lucha libre battle royal held in Mexico City. During the rematch, Wendy again obtained the upper hand, despite the overwhelming presence of Misty's stable, the Syndicate of E.V.I.L. With her manager Skipper trying to hit Wendy with a briefcase, Wendy ripped the briefcase from his hands, narrowly missing Misty in the process. However, Misty faked being hit, breaking a red mist capsule on her face to make it look like she was bleeding. Wendy was promptly disqualified, despite her protests of innocence.
Furious, Wendy stormed into the Syndicate's locker room, demanding a rematch. After being refused, she worked out a deal- best two out of three falls, and if Wendy lost, she would admit Misty was better, and never challenge for the title again as long as Misty had it. Misty agreed on condition that Wendy and Terrence face her and stablemate Brigham Smith in a Stars on Ice match, a match fought on skates in an ice rink in which the goal was to throw both your opponents into the penalty box. Wendy agreed, but despite the Birdz best efforts, Misty and Brigham prevailed in dumping the Birdz in the box to win the match, while the rest of the Syndicate cheered on.
Revenge came swiftly and quickly, less than a week later, when the Birdz entered the 2004 Crockett Cup tournament, determined to better their semifinal result of the previous year. After getting through the first two rounds, they faced Manifest Destiny, the Syndicate of E.V.I.L's official tag team consisting of Smith and his normal partner Seth Maverick. After a hellacious match in which the Birdz had to stave off cheating from all sides, they prevailed, advancing to the finals. There, they faced the reigning WFWA World Tag Team Champions, the Forces of Nature. Again, another hard fought battle saw the Birdz come on top, and claim the Crockett Cup.
The two out of three falls match happened the very next week, and Wendy came out storming, taking the first fall. However, Misty fought back, taking the second fall with vicious head kicks that left Wendy unable to recover in time for the third fall. However, Wendy kept herself alive, slowly retaking the advantage, only for Misty to mist her again. But Wendy covered her face with her hands, protecting herself, and preventing Misty from cheating to win. Misty went for her Phoenix Splash, only for Wendy to upkick her in the head, and lock on the Banshee, her new submision finisher, to claim her third WFWA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Issues with Ulfric
Edit
As Wendy dealt with Misty on the global stage, she was also having difficulties in her own home region. At the Devil's Dance PPV on March 30, Wendy won the Louisiana State Championship from Jonothan Cross. However, immediately after the match, the lights went out, and a masked man appeared, handcuffing her to the ropes. When the lights came on, Ulfric jumped over the barrier, presumably to attack Wendy. However, he used a pair of shears to cut Wendy free. Later, in her locker room, Ulfric appeared, professing his desire for her. Wendy flatly refused, telling him that Terrence was her boyfriend.
With the rationale that Ulfric would have a chance at Wendy with Terrence out of the picture, Ulfric attacked him during his WFWA World Championship match against Rayne. When Wendy tried to intervene, Ulfric attempted to kiss her, earning a slap for his efforts. Enraged, Terrence demaned a handicapped match with him and Wendy against Ulfric. Wendy was knocked out, sacrificing herself to let Terrence get the win, but after the match, an enraged Ulfric began to beat on Terrence with his barbed wire chair. To stop him, Pollaski stepped in, promising a date with Wendy if Ulfric beat Terrence in a stretcher match.
To Wendy's horror, Ulfric won, landing Terrence in the hospital, and earning his date. Wendy reluctantly went along, only to discover that all Ulfric wanted was just a friend, and had been encouraged by her reputation of being nice. Caught off guard at the pleasant experience, Wendy began to warm up to him. Afraid of her boyfriend's reaction, she lied to him, telling him that the date was horrendous. Ulfric overheard, and in a rage, attacked Terrence again, with everything blowing up in Wendy's face.
Feud with Victor Mandrake
Edit
Kidnapping
Edit
Eight days after winning the Cruiserweight Championship for a third time, Wendy was wrestling against Wolf, only to be attacked from behind by Victor "Diablo" Mandrake, who hit her several times with a chair, allowing Wolf to get the win in the nontitle match. Wendy was immediately named the number one contender for the BWA Ironman Championship, despite her outspoken aversion to hardcore-style wrestling. The match was a trap on Mandrake's part, with BWA President Matt McClain an accomplice, banning Terrence and Pollaski from the arena. With the hardcore rules in play, and Mandrake well over three times her size, Wendy's efforts were in vain, and she was savagely beaten. After pinning her, Mandrake then picked her up, and carried her to his car, dumping her in the trunk, and driving off to his home, a restored mideval castle in an undisclosed location near the Gulf of Mexico.
While Terrence and Ulfric made a truce to seek her out for a rescue, Mandrake chained Wendy to the wall of his dungeon, using both psychological and physical torture to break her, including blasting her with a fire hose. Wendy was essentially a pawn, as Mandrake wanted to make Ulfric his student, and felt that Wendy's freedom would be enough to win him over. To neither Terrence nor Wendy's knowledge at first, Ulfric agreed, and Mandrake arranged for Wendy's freedom by flying her to the WFWA International Wars PPV, and chaining her at ringside for his match with Rune Archer. As expected, Terrence liberated her, and Wendy broke her code of not using weapons or interfereing by smacking Diablo in the face with a chain, enabling Archer to get the win.
Wendy was also scheduled to defend the Cruiserweight Championship at International Wars, in a fatal-four way against Misty Xiao, Kakuma, and Joey Tesauro. Fatigued and distraught from her ordeal, Wendy nevertheless attempted to defend her title. However, in her state, she was easily overpowered, and Misty Xiao kamikazed her through a table in a move that took both women out and enabled Tesauro to win the title. Regaining conciousness in the medical room after the match, both Briese and Xiao agreed it was probably healthier if they didn't face each other for a while.
Run to the BWA Heavyweight Championship
Edit
Terrence was hot to avenge Wendy's kidnapping, and spent the Summer of 2004 in several matches with Mandrake, none coming to an acceptable conclusion. Wendy was horrified upon learning of Ulfric's sacrifice, and dedicated herself to not letting Mandrake corrupt him. Shortly after International Wars, Wendy was kidnapped AGAIN, this time by Malik Johnson, who dumped her and Pollaski in the middle of nowhere in Texas in an attempt to get them out of the way so his henchmen could help him beat Terrence for the WFWA National Championship. While the gambit failed, Wendy was furious over frequently being a victim, and entered herself in the BWA Number One Contender's tournament to prove that she could handle herself.
The finals of the tournament were at the Stars & Stripes PPV, and Wendy faced Malik Johnson, beating him in an upset to become the #1 contender. Unfortunately, she was forced to wait to cash in on her shot, first due to a leave of absence as the RV was destroyed by a tornado, then due to the annual Summer Games hiatus. Coming back, Wendy found herself being pursued by a woman named Rayven, who loved Ulfric, but felt that Ulfric's true love was Wendy, whether she wanted to admit it or not. Desperately trying to insist Rayven was mistaken, Wendy and Rayven had several matches, to no acceptable conclusion, although both women began to gain grudging respect for each other. All the while, Mandrake was never far away, pointedly reminding her of her fate should she interfere too much.
Wendy finally got her shot a the BWA Heavyweight Championship on November 5, facing Mike Bell in a match between two of the most popular wrestlers in the company. Despite gaining the advantage several times, Bell suffered from concussion effects that disoriented him at times. Wendy managed to come back and hit her Vortexinator to win her first top belt, the BWA Heavyweight Championship, in addition to her Louisiana State Championship.
Feud with Team Danger
Edit
Finding a Challenger
Edit
BWA Preident Matt McClain was not happy about Wendy's ascencion to the companys' top belt, but as he hated Mike Bell even more, he allowed Wendy to name her first defense, on the condition that she not give a title shot to Bell. After spending the whole show thinking, Wendy finally announced that instead of just handing a shot to someone, she would put SyNn, Terrence Thompson, Rayven, and Bell in a four-way match. When McClain furiously reminded her Bell was off the table, Wendy pointed out that she wasn't giving Bell a title shot, but rather making him earn it. Wendy sat at ringside for the match, but was stunned when Team Danger returned, and began wreaking havoc. Furiously, Wendy entered the ring to stop them, only for Eric Dane, the leader of Team Danger, to hit her with his Star Driver, and continue hitting everyone in the match, which mercifully ended when SyNn, after being hit by a chair, fell on top of Terrence, getting the win.
Wendy defended her Louisiana State Championship at Santa's Sack of Beatings on December 30 against Rayven in a ladder match, losing to her rival in another furious contest that left the crowd with a standing ovation. After the match, as Wendy was picking herself up, she was accosted by Team Danger, who handcuffed her to the ropes, and sprayed her repeatedly with Faygo soda pop, also stealing her BWA Heavyweight Championship. A silver lining to that night was her boyfriend finally beating Victor Mandrake to win the WFWA World Heavyweight Championship.
Gathering Forces
Edit
Enraged over her humiliation, Wendy demanded her title back from Team Danger member Tyrone Walker, Walker gave it to her, telling her he didn't want it anyways. Team Danger would then run rampant on the entire BWA, including catching her manager in a backstage hallway, and beating him in humiliating fashion. They also beat Soul Rider to the point of hospitalization, as the rest of the locker room debated what to do. Desperate for allies, Wendy actually turned to Mandrake for help, as she felt that at least Diablo had some semblance of a code of ethics, while Team Danger just did what they wanted.
Wendy's title defense against SyNn never came to fruition, as the BWA elected to leave the WFWA, deciding to create their own World Championship as a result, deciding the new belt in an eight man tournament. Wendy was not elected to participate, but rather told that the BWA Championship would be merged with the Louisiana State Championship to becme the Mid-South Championship. Despite her frustrations at being passed over, Wendy went on to beat Rayven in a unification match to become the Mid-South Champion. Shortly after, however, the BWA went on hiatus.
Return to the Alliance and Retirement
Edit
The Global Tournament
Edit
With the BWA on hiatus, the Birdz returned to the Alliance, signing with Tri-State Wrestling, covering Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. Wendy only sparsely competed in her own region, however, as her focus became on the 32-man Global tournament, and the vacant WFWA International Championship that was the grand prize. In a bizarre mishap, she was blindsided by announcer Bruce Garrett and pinned in the first round, to much her humiliation. Surprisingly, she was offered a second chance by tournament director Jennifer Caserta, and took the opportunity, making it all the way to the finals, before losing to Jon Smith. However, during the finals, Wendy discovered that Caserta had been using her to manipulate the field to her liking, and had tried to set Smith up to fail, essentially rigging the tournament, only for Smith to foil it
Disillusioned, and tired of being a pawn, Wendy had a discussion with her husband, and after much soul searching, the two decided that their time had passed, and on September 1, 2005, announced their retirement.
During Retirement
Edit
Marriage to Thompson & Education
Edit
After both Thompson and Briese retired, they returned to Indianapolis and the two were married shortly after, on October 15, 2005. As a wedding present, Terrence received one-half ownership stake in his uncle's garage, as well as beign given an opportunity to return to auto-racing by being given a team in the touring American Speed Association. Wendy gave birth to the couple's first child, Theresa on July 15, 2006, and would eventually return to college, earning an associate's degree in Theater from IUPUI. Wendy also returned to the Indianapolis Municipal Theater, acting in several productions, most notably Henrik Ibsen's "The Dollhouse"
In 2007, Terrence and Wendy were both inducted into the WFWA Hall of Fame as one of the most successful and dominant tag teams in Alliance history. Wanting to put their past in wrestling behind them, the two declined to attend their induction ceremony, a decision both Thompson and Briese have admitted to regretting.
In early 2008, Wendy became the director of the Marion County Community Theater, a nonprofit drama group in Indianapolis. She would serve in this role for a little over two years, and garnered a reputation for being a tough, yet fair director, and attendance of the theater rose 25% during her tenure.
Return to Wrestling
Edit
Mandrake's Scheme
Edit
In late 2009, Wendy's friend Rick "Ulfric" Logan passed away due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Victor Mandrake, who had been close to Ulfric up until his suicide, blamed Wendy for the death, citing her moralistic attempts to keep him from his nature destroying him from within. Discovering her new life in Indianapolis, he realized that the Marion County Community Theater was in dire financial straights, and at risk of being shut down due to county budget cuts. He arranged a donation to the theater, enough to fully fund it for five years, with the elated Parks & Recreation commissioner immediately renaming the theater in his honor. Upon hearing this, Wendy immediately quit her position.
Ironically, Terrence lost his race team on the exact same day, when it was sold, the new owner immediately replacing Terrence with his son. Upon hearing both of his former clients losing their jobs, Pollaski, back in the WFWA working as a columnist, approached the Birdz with a plea for help. The alliance was in dire straights, at risk of being taken over by a rogue company called Defiance, which was led by longtime enemy Eric Dane. Pollaski felt the time was ripe for a WhirlyBirdz comeback, as he felt the alliance desperately needed heroes like the Birdz had been. After some initial reluctance, both Terrence and Wendy agreed, and began training to return to the ring.
After stealing the WFWA Tag Team Championships from Wrestling MidWest's Hardcore Icons (Valora Salinas and Umbrage), Team Danger, now consisting of the retired Dane, Stephen Greer, and Johnny Lightning, issued an open challenge to anyone who would want to regain the championships to come to Defiance and take them. Upon hearing this, the Birdz elected to go after the belts themselves on March 30, 2010, with the hopes of winning them, and then returning them to Salinas and Umbrage in return for a legitimate title shot. Unfortunately, they were not the only team to make an appearance as both the Icons and Appalachian Wrestling's The Untouchables (Jeff Andrews, Ronnie Long, and Heidi Christenson) arrived as well, effectively turning the match into a four-way contest. However, Andrews and Christenson betrayed Long, suddenly allying themselves with Team Danger, forcing the Icons and the Birdz to ally, and hte match became more of a four-on-four.
The Untouchables rivals, the Truly Untouchables, then arrived, and to everyone's surprise, took out the Icons and Thompson, leaving Wendy as the only conscious member of her side. She was promptly set upon by Team Danger, who held her down while Greer and Heidi Christenson threatened to sexually violate her. Before anything could happen, the lights went out, and when they came back on, Mandrake himself stood in the ring, laying waste to both the Untouchables and Team Danger, finally throwing Wendy atop of Chirstenson, winning the match, and presumably the titles, for the WhirlyBirdz.
The already controversial ending became even more muddled merely days later, when in a press conference, Wendy unexpectedly announced that if the WFWA board of directors upheld the match result, she and Mandrake would be the tag team champions, not the WhirlyBirdz. Understandably upset by this, Terrence stormed out of the press conference, with Wendy later claiming to have been coerced by Mandrake to name him as his partner. Ultimately, the point was made moot, as the committee refused to recognize the victory as legitimate, essentially vacating the titles.
Tag Wars
Edit
Now back to fulltime competition, both Terrence and Wendy joined PWX, which had recently joined the WFWA as the Indiana region, citing the company's proximity to home as their primary reason. Early in their tenure, Terrence and Wendy would face each other in the quarterfinals of the May Madness Tournament, in a match that saw Victor Mandrake interfere, attacking Thompson. Despite the attack, the match was allowed to continue, with Terrence ultimately pulling out a victory. While Terrence would go on to win the tournament, Wendy would ultimately flounder in the PWX, winning match after match, yet never seemingly being able to manage to rise in the ranks.
With the WFWA announcing the Tag Titles to be decided in a one-night tournament, Mandrake demanded that Wendy keep her word and be his tag team partner, which Wendy would reluctantly do, citing their need to keep the titles from any Defiance wrestler as her reason. To prepare for the tournament, Mandrake took Wendy to his castle, this time as a guest instead of a prisoner, although Wendy was forced to deal with the psychological remifications of returning to a place of such trauma for her. While there, she and Mandrake trained together intensively, with Mandrake also attempting to use the guilt she felt over Ulfric's death, along with their mutual hatred of Eric Dane to manipulate her into following his more Machiavellian mindset.
Unfortunately, the two would not win the tag titles, thanks to Terrence, who attacked Mandrake during their semifinal match against Jesse James and Joe Drago, costing them any chance at victory. Their defeat assured that a Defiance team would win the titles, which upset Wendy greatly.
Summer Games XI
Edit
After the debacle in the tag title tournament, WFWA representative Cito Conarri and Defiance representative Eric Dane reached a compromise. Summer Games for the year would be an eight team affair, of three wrestlers each, taking place on June 13, 2010. The initial round would be each team squaring off against another in a tag team elimination match, with the winning team's survivors advancing to a battle royal, the winner becoming the WFWA World Heavyweight Champion. Furthermore, whichever faction the winner belonged to would gain control of the Alliance. Using his power and influence, Mandrake secured himself as one of the captains, naming Wendy his first team member. Wendy demanded that Terrence be the other member, something Mandrake initially refused, but would eventually relent.
Preparation for the Games was tense in the WhirlyBird camp, as Wendy would become more and more obsessed, her desire to destroy Defiance "for the greater good", becoming fanatical. After a training session where Wendy seriously injured her opponent with a Banshee, she stormed out after Terrence confronted her over her sudden vicious streak. Realizing her error, Wendy returned to Terrence, informing him that for the purpose of Summer Games, he was not her husband, just merely a partner for the first round, and left for the Games by herself, refusing to even see Terrence again until right before their match.
The first round saw the trio face John Kellerman, Chris Cannon, and Zortalk. Kellerman and Cannon were quickly disposed of, but Terrence was eliminated after Zortalk threw dust in his face. Wendy then eliminated Zortalk with her Banshee, her and Mandrake advancing to the battle royal. In the battle royal, Boston Bancroft, who had been out of the WFWA for nearly a year after winning the previous year's Summer Games, returned, cashing in his #1 contender's reward to enter. When the match started, Wendy was immediately set upon by Team Danger member and longtime nemesis Stephen Greer, while also having to contend with Bancroft. Years of frustration against Team Danger finally came to a head when Greer clawed Wendy in the crotch. Furious, Wendy responded with a vicious punch to Greer's own crotch, capitalizing and eliminating him.
The match became chaotic, with a brawl breaking out at ringside between the factions of Aaron Vasquez and "Cool" Cancer Jiles. The final four came down to Mandrake, Briese, Jiles, and Vasquez, with Briese and Jiles allying in an attempt to eliminate Vasquez. With Vasquez nearly in trouble, Jiles turned on Briese, sending both over the ropes, but both hung on. Wendy managed to cling to the ropes as Jiles tried again, only for Vasquez to catch him, both men eliminating each other. Wendy rolled into the ring, ready to face Mandrake, who had been knocked out earlier by a bag of sand to the head thanks to Jiles.
Mandrake however, had long ago recovered, and was merely playing possum, saving his stregnth. With Wendy completely fatigued, she was quickly made short work of, being thrown out of the ring, leaving Mandrake the only one left. Mandrake's victory was short lived as Bancroft returned to the ring, having been eliminated prior, but as both referees had been distracted by the brawl between Vasquez and Jile's stables, neither had seen him. With the help of Eric Dane, Bancroft would eliminate Mandrake, winning the WFWA World Heavyweight Championship, and giving control of the Alliance to Dane. Dane promptly announced that he no longer cared for the WFWA, preferring to focus on Defiance, and effectively shut the alliance down that very night.
Post-Alliance

Pro Wrestling- X
Edit
With the closure of the WFWA, the Birdz returned to PWX, now an independent company again. Having had their relationship strained to the breaking point several times during the war with Defiance, the Birdz attempted a reconciliation, using a pursuit of the PWX Tag Team Championships as a way to rebuild their trust in each other. The pursuit was incredibly short, as the Birdz immediately claimed the #1 contendership, earning a shot at the Kings Among Men (John Pariah & Michael Norcia) at Do Or Die III on July 5. Wendy was particularily eager to face the Kings, as they had earlier defended their titles via proxy, watching from ringside, with Norcia drunk, as two other wrestlers defended the titles for them. After winning, the Kings descended upon their proxies, beating them up, further inflaming Wendy's sense of honor. Things would only get more heated on June 28, when the Kings jumped Terrence and Wendy with the help of Pariah's wife Lilith.
The Birdz quickly deposed of the Kings at Do Or Die, largely in part to Norcia's inebriation. Shortly after, Pariah dumped Norcia as a tag partner, and joined with John Ojeda, Brian Hollywood, Wild, and others, forming the Cartel, and blackmailing owner JPO into turning control of the company over to Hollywood. Furious and alarmed over the injustice, Wendy began to oppose the Cartel members, actually defeating Hollywood cleanly the following week, ending several weeks of frustration when she faced Hollywood, only for him to wriggle away. After the match, however, Wendy was attacked by Wild, who announced that he and his brother were the new #1 contenders for the tag championshp. The two teams met at Respect is Earned, with the Birdz again successfully retaining, although the backstage beatdowns would only increase.
Tired of being attacked at every turn, Wendy allied herself with several other wrestlers, forming the Resistance. At the same time, she reached out to JPO, encouraging him to return, face his past, and reassert control over the company. JPO eventually would, setting the stage for the Civil War, which would be competed in a Seventh Circle War Games Death Match, complete with a spiderweb of barbed wire, panes of glass, and C4 explosives. Despite her hatred and fear of hardcore wrestling, Wendy agreed to represent The Resistance. She entered second for her team, and was forced to watch as Darin Zion was seriously injured, while another of her team mates, Jacob Wright, failed to appear. This left her and Victor Jace in a four on two situation, until Antonio Lopez returned and entered in Wright's place. The Resistance would get the win as Jace pinned Hollywood, with Wendy keeping Bryan Willett in her Banshee to prevent him from interfereing.
Despite her help in returning JPO to power, PWX seemed to have no idea what to do with her outside the tag division, and she became frustrated at her lack of progress in singles competiton. After defending against the Belmonts in a hard fought win made controversial over confusion on whether or not Wendy was the legal partner when she pinned Valerie, the Birdz were set to face the team of Wright and Lopez instead of rematching against the Belmonts as they had hoped. Frustrated, the Birdz ultimately elected not to renew their contracts with PWX, although they did agree to defend their tag titles until they lost them. It never came to that, as the entire PWX would shut down days after their decision.
First True World Championship
Edit
X3 Tournament
Edit
Even before resigning from PWX, Wendy had begun to look for other opportunities for the singles compeitions she wasn't finding in her home company. Hearing of a tournament in the upstart X3 to determine their first world champion, Wendy signed up, hoping to prove that she had what it took to exist outside the tag ranks. As she worked her way through the bracket, she found a friendship in fellow competitor Ariel Shadows, the girlfriend of Madman Szalinski. To Szalinski's dismay, Wendy encouraged Ariel to find her own identity outside of simply being Szalinski's girlfriend. The animosity between the two would increase when both advanced to the finals, and coming to a head when Szalinski attacked Terrence in front of the couple's daughter.
During the finals, which was a ladder match, Szalinski began to get the upper hand, knocking Wendy out, and repeatedly hitting her with chairs. Sensing that her boyfriend had lost control, Shadows tried to intervene, only for Szalinski to turn on her as well, forcing Ariel to run off. Briese began to fight back, securing her victory after ripping the title away from Szalinski at the top of the ladder, claiming her first ever true World Heavyweight Championship. The match ended on a sour note, as Ariel Shadows was kidnapped after the match. This, combined with an Irish Death off the top ladder that triggered a misfire in Szalinski's brain, rendered her one-time rival mute and despondent.
Teaming Panda Champions
Edit
Wendy also joined Catholic Panda Wrestling with her husband, the two immediately given a shot at the Teaming Panda Championships, contested in a four-store war, a four-way hardcore style match where four rooms were prepared like shops, each one to the sepecifications of a different team, with the merchandise to be used as weapons. Despite getting in trouble before the match after Terrence and Pollaski attempted to steal merchandise (Terrence had made theirs an auto parts store in an attempt to gain freebies for his garage), the Birdz would go on to win the titles, with Wendy making the pin. Unfortunately, finding challengers would prove to be difficult, as their initial #1 Contenders, Double Dragon, left the company. The Birdz faced the Cherrybombs in a nontitle match, the match ending in a DQ win for the Birdz after they were attacked by Aoraki and Drake Black, who proceeded to decimate both teams. The next week, the Birdz and the Cherrybombs combined to face Aoraki, Black, and the Sin City Syndicate, winning the match, only to again be attacked by Black.
Feud with Madeline McTaggert and Attack by Psycho Soldier
Edit
Knowing what it was like to be on the receiving end of a kidnapping, Wendy was desperate to try and track Shadows down, and liberate her from her kidnapper, but her efforts met with no success. Meanwhile Wendy attempted to thwart another hostile takeover of a wrestling company she was in, this one courtesy of Madeline McTaggert, who had gotten Brydon Talinsdale removed from power by placing him under the influences of drugs. McTaggert, knowing Wendy's aversions to hardcore matches, immediately declared her first defense would be a "Fatal Attraction" match, set in an exploding electrified barbed wire steel cage with weapons dangling from the ceiling. While fighting off McTaggert's goons, she also watched as her #1 contendership was decided in a Round Robin tournament.
Things would become even more chaotic for Wendy when, after walking back from a match, she saw Ariel Shadows, tied up to a chair in the middle of the hallway. Wendy rushed to her friend's aid, only to discover it was a trap set up by Psycho Soldier, who Wendy had defeated in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Soldier had hoped to use Ariel as bait to lure Wendy into the trap, then leverage her into an X3 title shot of his own. After choking Wendy out with barbed wire, he took Ariel away again, leaving Wendy lying in a bloody heap in the hallway. Due to the issues surrounding the attack, the kidnapping and the ownership situation, X3 then went on a short hiatus.
Resignation from Catholic Panda Wrestling
Edit
As CPW management struggled to find a suitible challenger for their tag team champions, Terrence received a phone call in late March, from the owner of Diamond Motorsports, a well-known team in the ARCA racing series. Being offered a ride to replace an injured driver, Terrence accepted the offer, triggering an escape clause in his contract that enabled him to return to racing if he so chose. As Wendy had only signed with CPW to be Terrence's tag team partner, preferring to focus on her X3 Championship defense, she also found herself out of the company, the tag titles they had held becoming vacated.
Fatal Attraction
Edit
Psycho Soldier's hold on Ariel didn't last much longer in the wake of the hiatus, as Madman Szalinski, despite his continued despondence, managed to free her from his clutches, setting up a match between him and Soldier, effectively thwarting Soldier's attempt to insert himself in the X3 title picture for the time being. Wendy's challenger was set when Keebler won the round robin tournament, Keebler viciously blindsided Wendy several times in an attempt to get under Wendy's skin. In retaliation, Wendy's manager Pollaski attacked Keebler's valet, Kookie Kreme, flattening her in the ring with his trademark F3, buttsplash. With Kookie confined to a wheelchair due to her injuries, and Wendy upset with her manager once again taking things too far, she prepared to enter what would prove to be one of the most dangerous matches of her career.
Wendy bravely fought off Keebler's attacks during the Fatal Attraction match, doing everything she could to keep weapons out of play. However, as Wendy was preparing to end it with an Emerald Cyclone, Kookie Kreme revealed she had been faking her injury all along, bolting from her wheel chair, to the control that set the explosives, blowing up the turnbuckle Wendy was on and burning her leg. With Wendy injured, Keebler began to dominate, using weapons in an attempt to destroy Wendy, only for her to hang on. The turning point came when Wendy tried for her Vortexinator, only for Keebler to throw her off. With her leg still hurt, Wendy stumbled, but hit a drop toe hold as Keebler charged, inadvertently dropping Keebler front first onto a barbed wire steel chair. Quickly Wendy applied the Banshee, her added weight on Keebler further causing him pain thanks to the barbed wire, forcing a submission and giving Wendy an unlikely victory. Unfortunately,, again problems with management would arise the very next week, and the X3 would shut its doors with Wendy still as the champion on June 15, 2011
Femme Fatale Wrestling
Edit
Chase For the Crown
Edit
With her departure from CPW, and the X3 on hiatus, Wendy considered retiring from wrestling again, but was talked out of it by her manager, who told her about an all-women's company named Femme Fatale Wrestling. Wendy, as a rule, had avoided women's companies and divisions, believing the best competition would lie in a completely open environment in which anyone could participate, not to mention her frustration with such institutions oversexualizing women's wrestling. However, after watching one PPV, she realized the talent level in the company was significant enough to be a challenge, and agreed to join.
She made her debut on April 21, 2011, easily defeating Charity Deas, and quickly establishing herself as a wrestler capable of taking on anyone. She was immediately placed into the first Chase for the Crown tournament, with the grand prize a shot at the Evolution Championship, teaming in the first round with Crystal Hilton and Kassandra of the Danger Queens, facing Destiny Loveheart, Gretchen Donimari, and her friend from X3, Ariel Shadows. During the lead up to her match, Ariel, blaming Wendy for Szalinski's injuries, promptly cut a tirade on her, as Wendy sadly came to the realization her friendship with Shadows was over. In the match itself, Briese, Hilton, and Kassandra worked well together, with Kassandra pinning Destiny Loveheart, Wendy keeping Donimari at bay with a cross body block from across the ring.
The second round would have Wendy, Kassandra, and Crystal facing each other, with the one taking the fall getting eliminated, while the other two would advance to the final round. Before that though, the three Evolution hopefulls faced then-current Evolution Champion, Colleen, along with two former champions, Undine and Robbyn Helmsley. It was here that the animosity between Briese and Colleen would start, as Colleen interpreted Wendy's observation that the three rivals would not be able to work well together as deliberate subversion. Nonetheless, Kassandra submitted Robbyn Helmsley, to give the three up-and-comers another win.
The second round itself was set in Indianapolis, the first time Wendy had ever wrestled in her adopted hometown. As such, Wendy came out fired up, and performed well. However, as Wendy was about to pin Kassandra, Hilton, who had sandbagged most of the match, kicked Wendy in the head, and stole the pin for herself. While understandably miffed over being embarassed in her hometown, Wendy was also quite happy to advance to the final, where she would have a chance at Hilton one-on-one.Wendy fell to a disadvantage during the match, but Crystal, confident in her superiority, got overconfident, and Wendy reversed a leaping aerial into a powerbomb, falling on top to secure the win, earning her shot at the Evolution Championship.
Evolution Championship
Edit
She wold get it in a three-way at Unstoppable 2 in July, against champion Colleen, and Robbyn Helmsley. Despite Wendy's best efforts, she would be knocked out of the ring by Helmsley, only for Robbyn to stumble into Colleen's TTFO submission hold. While Wendy tried to make the save, she was too late, as the notoriously pain-intolerant Helmsley tapped out. After the match, Colleen attacked both Wendy and Helmsley with a microphone, further increasing the animosity between the three.
Shortly after Unstoppable, Wendy was approached by Isabella Pazzini, a woman Wendy had been rather critical of in the past, due to her connections with controversial FFW owner Samantha Star. However, at Unstoppable, Samantha betrayed Isabella after Pazzini grew reluctant to accept Star's aid, and would then arrange a mass beatdown for her, forming the A-List in the process. Isabella asked Wendy to help her hold off the A-List, and although reluctant at first, she eventually consented.
Meanwhile, after firing her manager Wolf Ramsey, and attacking him as well, Colleen had also joined the A-List, declaring herself "The Franchise" of the company. Ramsey, anticipating he might be betrayed, used his last act as manager to book Colleen in a three-way ladder match for her Evolution Championship, against Wendy and Tara Thunder. Disdainful, Colleen walked out in the middle of the match, leaving Thunder and Briese to fight, with Wendy obtaining the title after managing to shove Thunder off the ladder.
However, her reign would be incredibly short, as just two weeks later, at Sin & Sacrifice, Crystal Hilton won the title in a two out of three falls match, faking an injury to lure Wendy off guard, and rolling her up to take the first fall. Wendy furiously took the second fall, but mistakenly expended so much energy trying to even things, she left herself open to be dominated the third fall, giving Hilton both the Evolution Championship, and a berth in the upcoming Femme For All Tournament to determine the #1 contender to the FFW Championship
No Surrender Championship
Edit
Wendy bounced back from her devastating loss at Sin & Sacrifice to enter the 10-woman Byte This Battle Royal, entering fifth, and winning, last eliminating Colleen, who had spent the majority of the match mocking Wendy. She followed that up by facing Rose Jenkins in her hometown of Indianapolis, with the entire A-List as lumberjacks at ringside. Numbers became too much for Wendy, but she refused to give up, ultimately winning the match when Camilla Pazzini, who had been commenting at ringside, blindsided Wendy in order to get Rose disqualified, further agitating the brewing rivalry between the two women.
Wendy's next task lay at Violent Night, when Jo McFarlane, who won a Pick Your Poison match at Unstoppable, selected Wendy as her poison, essentially wanting to embarass Wendy, who she felt was annoyingly conservative. Wendy managed to overcome Jo, forcing her to submit.
Instead of invoking her guaranteed rematch clause for the Evolution Championship, Wendy elected to pursue the No Surrender championship instead, a brand new division where matches would only be contested under submission rules. Wendy's qualifying match came against Stephanie Sullivan, with Wendy winning, advancing to a triple-threat match against Lumina Ferrari and Starla McCloud at Cold Blooded 2012.
First, however, was New Years Retribution, when for one night only, Terrence came out of retirement to form the WhirlyBirdz, the duo taking on SVW tag team Stark & Stone. In a match between two beloved tag teams that tore the house down, Stark & Stone eeked out a victory, although Terrence claimed that it was based on a blind tag that hadn't really happened, a point of contention that remains between him and Anders Stark.
At Cold Blooded on January 28, 2012, Wendy forced Lumina Ferrari to submit, beoming the first ever No Surrender Champion. However, Samantha Star, the owner of FFW, was unhappy about the result, claiming Wendy lacked proper "Star Power" to become a champion. To rectify the situation, Star forced Wendy to defend her title against Starla McCloud, with Starla's own husband Alex Adonis as the referee. The match ended in controversy, as Wendy forced Starla to tap out, only for Adonis to pretend to not see it. Starla then locked Wendy in her Sweet Sedation, and despite Wendy still struggling, Adonis called for the bell, claiming Wendy had verbally submitted, a claim not backed up by video evidence, and vehemently denied by Brese.
Wendy would get her rematch two months later at Conviction, this time with a normal referee. Despite Adonis' frequent attempts to interfere, Wendy's own manager Pollaski managed to keep him at bay, allowing Wendy to submit Starla, and now become the first two-time No Surrender Champion. Later that night, Wendy was one of many wrestlers who were noticeably upset after Jennifer Stryfe was pushed off the video screen by Isabella Pazzini and Starla McCloud, thus forming the new Power Trip.
Wendy is now scheduled to face FFW Evolution Champion Tara Thunder at Unstoppable 3 on July 28, 2012. In addition her ongoing struggle against members of the Power Trip.
